The House is a Gospel Centered Community living to follow Jesus
In other words, the heart of The House, is that our whole community would live as followers of Jesus Christ, reflecting His person in everything we believe and do (being disciples of Jesus). The way we believe this happens is through keeping the Gospel of Jesus at the center of our lives. Therefore, the Gospel is the means by which we personally and communally relate to God and each other.
The gospel is the declaration of the Love and Grace of God that has been revealed to humanity through His Son Jesus Christ, and made available to all those who place their faith in Him, resulting in personal, communal, and societal transformation.
The Gospel changes everything!
Understanding Grace, releases the power of God into our lives, to deliver us from the darkness of our sin and depravity and to guide our feet into the way of peace, it restores our identity as image bearers of God!
At The House we believe that God exists in a Triune community and since He has made us in His image we have been made for community as well. Therefore, we need people around us (the church community) constantly reminding us of the greatness of God’s grace, bringing the power of the gospel to bear upon our lives in both word and deed. This communal input of wisdom protects us from getting trapped into the world’s deceptive forms of idolatry, which promise personal freedom but ultimately fail to deliver. There is no true Rescuer or Saviour other than Jesus and the Grace of God. We believe also that we’re called to share the Gospel of grace to all those outside the church who will listen, in hope that they will see the love and Grace of God for them in the person of Jesus and be saved.
Therefore, at The House we have three core values which remind us of the priorities of the gospel and serve as the primary markers by which we can measure our growth as followers of Jesus.
- Communion: Living in the grace of God
- Community: Living for the people of God
- Commission: Living on mission with God to make disciples of all mankind
Here are a few questions to ask yourself which can serve as indicators if you are living a gospel centered life? If not, then who or what is at the centre of your life, what false idol needs to be recognized and renounced?
- Is my identity rooted in the grace of God, or in my job, family, friends, or hobbies?
- Are there good things that God has blessed me with that I have made ultimate things?
- Do I genuinely love and care for other believers serving them with the gifts that God has given me?
- Do I have healthy relationships with my spouse, kids, and coworkers?
- In what ways do I live with a missional intentionality to reach the lost with the gospel of Christ and to make disciples?
